Calypso held a Bread Oven Building Workshop August 9-12, 2006.
Workshop participants learned:
• The basic structure and function of wood-fired bread ovens
• How to create a base for the oven
• Preparing and pouring the hearth slab
• Laying the hearth bricks
• Stacking the chamber and forming the arch
• Insulating the structure
• Building a chimney

About the Instructor:
Quill Chase came from his farm in California to share his knowledge and expertise in leading the workshop. In addition to building bread ovens on his own, Quill has worked extensively with world renowned oven builder Alan Scott.
