Field to Freezer: Field Dressing and Butchering

(2 day class) Friday, August 28 6-9pm and Saturday, August 29 10am-2pm.
In Cooperation with the Tanana Valley Watershed Association and the Folk School for the “Savor Wild Alaska” campaign.
This class will cover the skills, equipment, and process involved with field dressing, butchering, and packaging an animal for the freezer. This is a beginners class with the goal to provide each participant with the skills and confidence to properly take care of an animal following your successful hunt. We will focus on minimizing waste and maximizing the quality of the meat.
Bring a hunting style knife if you have one, rubber boots (xtratuffs), and rain bibs for Friday at Calypso Farm & Ecology Center. Wear clothes you can get dirty on Saturday at The Folk School.
