Calypso Farm Field Trips

Our farm field trips are over for this year.

We would like to thank this year's sponsors - Ridgeview Chiropractic, Test the Waters Adventure Sports, Gymnastics Inc., and The Holistic Medical Clinic - for their support of our education programs.

This year over 1600 children participated in one of the following field trips we offered:

Life on the Farm: This program will give children the opportunity to see the Farm during the growing season. Students will interact with the farm’s goats, sheep, chickens and bees, as well as learn about the growth of the farm’s produce. They will also be taken on an exciting adventure exploring the forest surrounding the farm to learn about decomposition and the different animals and plants that live there.

This field trip can also be tailored to specific interests, including math, language and poetry, insects, and wool. If you are interested in having us tailor a field trip for your group, please let us know.
Cost: $4/child, chaperones are free

Wool and Felting: Our Wool and Felting field trip teaches kids about the sheep who live at Calypso. They will also become familiar with the uses of sheep’s wool including spinning and felting.
Cost: $6/child, Chaperones are free

Pizza Making: Our Pizza Making field trips offer kids the opportunity to make fresh pizza from produce grown right at Calypso Farm! Kids will make homemade cheese, and use freshly picked vegetables and herbs to top their pizzas. They will also learn how to grind wheat into flour, and make pizza dough. At the end of the field trip kids will watch as their pizzas cook in the wood-fired outdoor oven.
Cost: $6/child, chaperones are free

Natural Dyes: During our Natural Dyes Field Trip kids will learn how to make and use natural dyes collected from flowers grown at Calypso Farm. Kids will also learn about the life cycles of bees and the important part they play in pollinating flowers.
Cost: $6/child, chaperones are free

Please check back next March for information on our 2010 field trips.
