Farm Educator – Learn More & Apply!

Calypso has developed a number of successful and popular field trip themes exploring garden and forest ecology  for visiting public and private schools, pre-schools, day care centers, summer programs, local organizations, home school and independent family groups. Calypso’s Farm Educator is primarily responsible for coordinating and implementing field trips for school aged children at Calypso Farm from late April through September. The Farm Educator will also work alongside Calypso’s Camp Director for Farm Camp sessions and school garden-based LEAF Camp sessions in June & July. Camp Director – Learn More & Apply!

Calypso’s Camp Director is responsible for the development, coordination and implementation of Farm Camp at Calypso Farm and Ecology Center and the LEAF Camps held at three different school garden locations in Fairbanks, Alaska. Two sessions of Farm Camp and three sessions of LEAF Camp will be held in June & July. In addition to Camp responsibilities, the Camp Director will assist with Farm field trips when time allows. Applications Due February 15th, 2018


Building & Forestry Assistant – Learn More & Apply

Do you enjoy building projects and basic forestry? Join us for the season as a Building & Forestry Assistant and work with infrastructure projects across the farm, from maintaining existing structures and finishing projects and starting new ones. The Building and Forestry Assistant will also work on general forestry, such as felling trees, bucking up firewood, clearing fence lines, etc. We are looking for someone with building experience, who is comfortable with power tools and a chainsaw and is fun to work with! Position open until filled. 




Short-Term Field Crew (4 Positions Available)

~Position Opening March/April, 2018~

Help us prepare Calypso’s fields for planting! This is a fast-paced, 3 week, part-time position, starting mid-May (exact start date is weather dependent). You will be preparing garden beds for planting – digging soil, moving wheel barrow loads of compost, raking and setting up drip irrigation. All tools, training and supervision provided.  

Hours9-12:30am Monday – Friday

Compensation: $12/hr. Farm Lunch provided! 


  • A positive attitude and the willingness to work hard.  
  • Ability to do physical labor.
  • Transportation to and from Calypso Farm every workday.  
  • Prior gardening/farming experience is a plus, but not required.


School Garden Manager – 2018 Position Filled

The School Garden Manager is Calypso’s lead farmer for the School Gardens, responsible for the health and production of three school gardens, which host LEAF Camps and the EATinG Program. They will work with a short-term crew to prep the beds, and work alongside summer education program staff in caring for the gardens. Click Here for Position Overview.
