Farm Educator – Learn More & Apply!
Calypso has developed a number of successful and popular field trip themes exploring garden and forest ecology for visiting public and private schools, pre-schools, day care centers, summer programs, local organizations, home school and independent family groups. Calypso’s Farm Educator is primarily responsible for coordinating and implementing field trips for school aged children at Calypso Farm from late April through September. The Farm Educator will also work alongside Calypso’s Camp Director for Farm Camp sessions and school garden-based LEAF Camp sessions in June & July. Applications Due February 15th, 2018.
Camp Director – Learn More & Apply!
Calypso’s Camp Director is responsible for the development, coordination and implementation of Farm Camp at Calypso Farm and Ecology Center and the LEAF Camps held at three different school garden locations in Fairbanks, Alaska. Two sessions of Farm Camp and three sessions of LEAF Camp will be held in June & July. In addition to Camp responsibilities, the Camp Director will assist with Farm field trips when time allows. School Garden Manager – Learn More & Apply!
The School Garden Manager is Calypso’s lead farmer for the School Gardens, responsible for the health and production of three school gardens, which host LEAF Camps and the EATinG Program. They will work with a short-term crew to prep the beds, and work alongside summer education program staff in caring for the gardens. Applications Due February 15th, 2018

Help us prepare Calypso’s fields for planting! This is a fast-paced, 3 week, part-time position, starting mid-May (exact start date is weather dependent). You will be preparing garden beds for planting – digging soil, moving wheel barrow loads of compost, raking and setting up drip irrigation. All tools, training and supervision provided.
Hours: 9-12:30am Monday – Friday
Compensation: $12/hr. Farm Lunch provided!
A positive attitude and the willingness to work hard.
Ability to do physical labor.
Transportation to and from Calypso Farm every workday.
Prior gardening/farming experience is a plus, but not required.
School Garden Caretaker Part-Time Position

Do you enjoy being outdoors and working with your hands? Do you have some gardening or farming experience? Calypso is hiring a School Garden Caretaker. The SG Caretaker works alongside the Garden Manager to prepare, plant and care for a network of five school gardens. You will work focus on building and planting the gardens in the spring and harvest in the late summer, but the majority of the time, you’ll be maintaining and caring for the gardens so that they’ll be vibrant and beautiful when school starts in the fall. Additionally, you’ll be helping out with weekly farm stands, selling school garden produce to the community! Building & Forestry Assistant

Do you enjoy building projects and basic forestry? Join us for the season as a Building & Forestry Assistant. There are all kinds infrastructure projects happening at Calypso, both expected and unexpected—from maintaining existing structures, finishing projects and starting new ones. New projects for the 2017 season include a sauna, greenhouse renovations and a grain cellar. There are also some projected fencing projects. In addition to building projects, the Building and Forestry Assistant will be working on general forestry such as felling trees, bucking up firewood, clearing fence lines, etc. We are looking for someone who has building experience, is comfortable with power tools and a chainsaw and is fun to work with!
