Over the past twelve years, Calypso Farm and our education programs have grown and flourished thanks to the dedication and hard work of hundreds of volunteers. Please join us! Here is a sample of the many ways you can get involved. For more information on any of the opportunities below please contact us.
There are endless projects to be done in the fields during the growing season. We have been offering regularly scheduled opportunities during the season for shareholders to fill their required volunteer hours. These are not limited to shareholders so keep an eye out in our e-mails and on our homepage for these work parties. If you are interested in volunteering regularly on field activities, we offer a work trade position where volunteering one day each week will earn you a CSA share.
Farm Docents and Educators
Farm Docents lead interactive field trips at the Farm, and are a valuable part of Calypso’s educational team. As a Farm Docent you will learn about food, farming, and the surrounding forest while earning volunteer hours. Docents come and lead a field trip once a week according to their schedule. If you can not come regularly and teach classes you can still be part of our Docent list and come when possible or help during larger field trips when more Docents are needed. As a Docent you will be trained and will get educational support to have a good and meaningful experience. We need your help and would love to have you here!

Would you like to become a Docent? Contact Christin and come to observe a field trip in action. After that you will get trained and ready to jump into this outdoor environmental teaching experience!
We are always working on building projects that need extra hands or people with building experience. This year we are building a fiber studio and a classroom and Tom needs plenty of helping hands! If you are interested in helping with building projects or if you have specialized skills to offer, please contact Tom Zimmer.
Every year we rely on volunteers to help us with our Open House in late July, the EATinG Celebration in late August and our Annual Benefit Dinner & Auction in late September.
If you prefer to volunteer in town, the School Gardens will need volunteers this summer. We are working on the schedule for 2015 and will have dates and times when we need help soon! Please contact Danny Sparrell for more details.
